Since receiving FDA approval a decade ago, laser eye surgery has safely and successfully helped millions achieve perfect or near perfect vision without glasses or contacts. In all LASIK surgeries, the goal is to reshape the surface of the eye to restore vision. Robbins Eye Center has expertise in all laser vision correction surgery techniques and will help you choose the method best for you. Laser vision correction procedures include LASIK, PRK, Epi-K and LASEK.

In traditional forms of LASIK, doctors create corneal flaps with a microkeratome, an oscillating, hand-held steel blade. Lasers then reshape the surface of the eye under the flaps. Newer LASIK techniques use a computer-guided laser to deliver rapid pulses of light to a preprogrammed depth and position within your cornea. Each pulse creates a microscopic bubble, and the bubbles connect to form a corneal flap. These techniques, referred to as no-blade or bladeless LASIK, create a more precise flap and are typically more comfortable for patients. In addition, pulse guided LASIK techniques allow some patients who are not good candidates for more traditional LASIK procedures to benefit from LASIK surgery. The Robbins Eye Center was the first in Connecticut to offer an all laser Intralase/Wavelight LASIK procedure.
