WHEN it comes to makeover surgeries Îpatient-doctor confidentialityÌ is a common euphemism for ÏIÌm too embarrassed to admit to my acquired assetsÓ. But in Mumbai, where implants and nip/tucks are as common as bootleggers and urchins, the Pacific Cosmetic Medical and Dental Centre makes a bragging start as a one-stop spot for cosmetic dermatology, surgery and dentistry.
The project is the brainchild of cosmetic dermatologist, Dr Abhijit Desai, and is in partnership with Pacific Healthcare, Singapore. ÏThe concept of bringing three facilities under one roof has been on my mind for two years,Ó says the Medical Director for Pacific Healthcare, India.

Under their repertoire of cosmetic transformations, botox, non-invasive laser techniques, treatment of acne and scars, micro derm abrasion and unwanted hair removal share limelight. But the prize catch are surgeries that include liposuction, breast implants, rhinoplasty, body sculpting and liposculpting. Those in need of change can not only avail of their desired treatments in the same premises, but will also have cosmetic consultants to suggest the appropriate surgeries, reductions or enhancements.

The sprawling 5,000 sq feet comes equipped with state-of-the-art technology to facilitate painless surgeries. The Aramis Anti-Ageing Laser from France Û for collagen remodeling and rejuvenation, advanced Stern Webber Dental Chairs from Italy and Dental Lasers from Vienna comprise the equipment flown in from across the world. ÏWe aim to improve all aspects of well-being and health by offering a full range of premium medical, surgical and dental services,Ó says Desai, whose team also comprises Dr Dilip Deshpande and Dr Rustom Ginwala.

In response to the unprecedented demand for makeover clinics Desai plans to set up branches around the city and later introduce it to the rest of the country. ÏAll age groups are keen on makeovers.Ó But as for the hushing up about this nature of work, Desai says, ÏAny treatment that a doctor gives to his patient should be confidential. This is an ethic that doctors practice in medicine.Ó
